Attention youth turkey hunters:
Mentored camp locations changed due to snowy and wet conditions

Two of the three mentored turkey hunting camps locations have moved slightly due to wet and snowy conditions. However, all of the camps are open and are still scheduled for April 15-18.
The new locations are as follows: (Note: copy and past GPS in Google Maps for directions)

Unit 23 camp (3C, 4A, 4B) – is now at the Sharp Creek Campground.

  • Directions: From Payson, take Highway 260 east, .5 miles east of mile post 275 turn south (right) to Sharp Creek Campground. (This turn is just east of the second turn off for Christopher Creek and old highway 260.)

Unit 1/27 camp – is still near Alpine on forest route 249, but is now just .9 miles west of highway 191/180.

  • Directions: From Springerville-Eagar area, take Highway 191/180 south to milepost 425, just north of Alpine. Turn west on Forest Service Road 249, go west for .9 miles to camp location.

Unit 6A – No change. The camp is still at the Mormon Lake Campground.

  • Directions: From Flagstaff, take the Lake Mary Highway (FH3) about 21 miles east to the Mormon Lake Village turn-off sign. Turn right and travel about 7 miles to the lodge. The gathering and dry camping will be located near the roping arena at the east end of the property.

Don’t forget to bring extra camouflage cloths for the wet conditions, plenty of clothes for the cool to cold temperatures, your turkey nonpermit-tag, a shotgun, shells and your smile. See you there.
