Meet the Arizona Game and Fish Commission and attend their business meeting

The public will have a chance to meet the members of the Arizona Game and Fish Commission this Saturday afternoon, Jan. 16, at the annual “Meet the Commission” event.

The meeting will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 2532 W. Peoria Avenue in Phoenix. The chairman’s welcome and commissioner introductions start at 2 p.m., followed by a presentation of the “Year in Review” video and then a question-and-answer session.

The Commission will also hold its regularly scheduled business meeting on Friday, Jan. 15 at the Game and Fish headquarters at 5000 W. Carefree Highway in Phoenix. The Friday meeting begins at 8 a.m. with an executive session, followed by the public session. To view a copy of the agenda, visit www.azgfd.gov/commission and click on the "commission agenda" link.

The public has three options for viewing the Friday meeting: (1) attending the meeting in person in Phoenix; (2) viewing it via video stream at five of the six Game and Fish regional offices (Flagstaff is unavailable at this time due to office construction); or, (3) viewing it over the Web at www.azgfd.gov/commissioncam.

Those wishing to submit “blue slips,” to present oral comment during the meeting, must do so either in person at the Phoenix meeting or one of the five regional Game and Fish offices that will be showing the video stream. For office addresses, visit www.azgfd.gov/offices.

The Arizona Game and Fish Commission makes rules and regulations for managing, conserving and protecting wildlife and fisheries resources, and safe and regulated watercraft and off-highway vehicle operations for the benefit of the citizens of Arizona. The public is encouraged to attend the Commission’s meetings to learn more about management activities around the state, the challenges wildlife faces now and in the future, and opportunities for getting involved in conserving Arizona’s wildlife.

The commission appoints the director of the Arizona Game and Fish Department, who, in support of the commission's obligations, provides general supervision and control of all department functions and activities.
