7.62x54 Moslin Nagant after Mod. Part 2
Description: It has a synthetic stock and the Bandnit (however you spell it) has been removed and barrel reblued. I wanted to add the scope mounts, but ran into a problem with the rear sight as well as the front sight assembly. With what I was able to do made for a more fuctional shooting and hopefully hunting rifle now.

Mosin Nagant stock info.

I purchased the stock through the online catalog from Cabela's. The brand is Advanced Technology (ATI Inc.) At the time it was $64.99 for the stock and $39.99 for the scope mount and bolt handle. The stock was very responsive the to the shape of my M44 Mosin Nagant. I haven't installed the scope mount, due to the fact that I wanted to remove the front and rear sights to make it a Deer and Elk rifle. But I found out that removing the front sight was not recommended, since it will leave a huge tapper at the end of the rifle barrel and affect the strength of the tip of the barrel. I found out through reading that I need an M39 or 38 Mosin Nagant style. So I guess I will be hunting with open sights! Now back to the stock. It did not fit right in, it took a bit of smoothing and using an grinding bit on my cordless drill to get it done. It was well worth it. I now have an excellent rifle that is up dated to my other rifles. Most of the adjusting in the stock was in front on the mounting bolt in the center of the rifle. After getting it to fit it sat in nice and the floating gap between the barrel and the stock was minimal. It didn't need anying filling. I hope this was informative and thanks for responding.
